Yo check it fam! We got the inside scoop on WWE 2K25 straight outta .
This aint your grandmas wrestling game 2K and Visual Concepts went all out to drop a banger that lives up to the hype surrounding WWE right now especially with John Cena pullin a heel turn wild right?.
Forget those yearly sports game letdowns this ones the real deal.
Packed Like a West Coast Traffic Jam All the Game Modes You Could Ask For and Then Some
Listen up cause WWE 2K25 is straightup loaded with wrestlers a dope mix of legends and the new blood.
You can throw down in classic local and online multiplayer rumbles plus dive into a ton of other game modes its a whole universe of content.
Word is 2K and Visual Concepts dropped one of the most stacked wrestling games ever.
The main event every year is Showcase Mode and this time theyre throwin the spotlight on The Bloodline.
You get to relive their sickest matches nailin objectives to recreate those reallife epic moments.
But heres the twist they got these what if scenarios dream matchups like 3 Minute Warning vs.
The Authors of Pain in an Extreme Rules match or Rikishi beatin Stone Cold at No Mercy 2000 switchin up history you feel me?.
This way you get the iconic fights without gettin stuck havin to lose just to keep it real.
Peep this they aint snatchin control from you for live action clips as much this time and the objectives aint micromanagin every little thing which is hella appreciated.
Still some of those timed objectives can be straightup stressin you out.
Mess up one and you can kiss those bonus rewards goodbye and gotta run the whole thing back.
Some of those timers are so short if your opponent even breathes on you wrong you might as well just restart.
But even with that little bit of aggro its still worth it for the sweet loot.
And MyRise? Usually that modes kinda snoozefest with all the cutscenes and whack pacing but WWE 2K25 flips the script.
It jumps right into the action a rollercoaster story with NXT wrestlers crashin the main roster.
This year the mens and womens stories are all tied together in one plot and your choices still matter for how things play out.
For real this is the first time Im actually lookin forward to playin more MyRise so if you already dug it youre in for a treat.
MyGM is Back and Better Than a Lowrider on Crenshaw
Okay so Im probably gonna be deep in MyRise but you know where Ill really be at? MyGM.
This mode used to be General Manager mode and it was my jam back in the day.
It dipped after SmackDown vs. Raw 2008 but it made a comeback kinda barebones in WWE 2K22.
Theyve been steadily makin it better each year gettin it back to that golden era vibe.
WWE 2K25 takes MyGM to a whole new level the best its been since its return.
They fixed a lot of the old issues like actually accurate title belt lineups for the different shows instead of those generic ones.
Plus they dropped online multiplayer for up to four players and crossbrand PLEs. Those crossbrand payperviews were some of the hypest events in SmackDown vs. Raw 2008s GM mode so bringin em back is straightup awesome.
In WWE 2K25 MyGM youre battlin to book the sickest shows over 25week seasons. You gotta set up rivalries manage your superstars health and contracts and use powerup cards to get the edge or mess with your rivals.
Every PLE has mens and womens crossbrand matches where the winners get big rewards.
Like winnin the Money in the Bank crossbrand match gets you a card you can cash in for an instant $100000 to sign new talent or upgrade your shows.
With more crossbrand matches happenin MyGM feels way more competitive and engaging than it has since it came back.
Sure there are still some little things like maybe losin your champs in the endseason draft instead of keepin em by default and some missing match types but theres always next year right?.
But dont sweat it all the other classic WWE 2K modes are still here in WWE 2K25.
They got a crazy deep suite of creation modes so you can make your own superstars championships and all that. Universe mode is back with promos so you can easily sink hours into that.
MyFACTION is back too that cardbased mode but its pretty much the same as always nothin too special.
So while not everythings gonna be everyones cup of tea WWE 2K25 is packed with features and content no doubt.
Cruisin on The Island of Relevancy
Hold up WWE 2K25 aint just bringin back the old favorites theyre droppin a brandnew mode called The Island.
Its a 50 player online multiplayer hub where your custom characters are throwin down for a WWE contract all at the invite of Roman Reigns himself.
This is a PS5 and Xbox Series X exclusive and this Island is like a WWE theme park decked out with cool deepcut references that hardcore fans are gonna love.
Everything on The Island runs on VC the games virtual currency.
You can earn VC ingame by crushin quests and battlin in matches then spend it at the shops all over the island even a Nike store for real.
But heres the catch everything on The Island is kinda pricey.
Like a haircut costs 9000 VC and I was only pullin in around 170 VC per match.
Yeah there are ways to earn more but just goin by quest match winnings youd have to grind for like 52 matches just to get a haircut.
PvP matches might pay out more but I didnt get to test that out. Either way all the cosmetics are similarly expensive so get ready to cough up some serious VC for those luchador masks and tats.
Honestly the best move is probably to just ignore all the cosmetics on The Island.
Theyre too expensive and it feels like theyre pushin you to spend real cash on VC to get what you want.
And think about it 2K usually shuts these WWE games down after just a couple of years so droppin real money on micro transactions in this aint makin much sense.
Its not a true liveservice game and it probably wont be supported for too long.
But heres the real kicker levelin up your wrestler on The Island is also tied to VC. You can spend that currency to seriously boost your stats.
With the VC that came with my copy I bumped my custom wrestlers overall rating from 76 to 90 with plenty left over.
Considering that a big part of The Island is the online ranking system this throws a big ol paytowin shadow over the whole thing.
Its a bummer cause The Island can actually be pretty fun otherwise. Even though I didnt try the PvP I had a blast doin the quests and checkin out the special themed rings and arenas.
And even with my lowrated superstar I was still winnin the singleplayer matches and diggin the Islands stories so you can still have fun without buyin any VC.
The InRing Action in WWE 2K25 is Straight Fire
For those who aint about The Island and its micro transactions you can totally skip it and still get your moneys worth and then some from WWE 2K25.
Thats cause all the different game modes are backed up by some of the slickest inring wrestling in video game history.
WWE 2K25 builds on the previous games to deliver an incredibly polished and actionpacked experience.
The inring product has been topnotch for years and WWE 2K25 somehow makes it even better.
WWE 2K25 brings back chain wrestling which kicks off these intense minigames where you gotta find the sweet spot with the left stick to get the advantage.
They also gave you more options outside the ring with wrestlers now able to climb the barricades and jump off for extra diving attacks.
And all this action looks hella real with character models that bleed bruise and sweat depending on whats goin down in the ring.
Also WWE 2K25 marks the return of Intergender Matches and backstage brawls got an upgrade with cool new areas.
My personal favorite new spot to throw down is the WWE Archives this warehouse full of classic WWE memorabilia even with the iconic SmackDown Fist makin an appearance.
Plus you got Bloodline Rules and Underground Matches to compete in this year so theres basically endless ways to cause mayhem in singleplayer and multiplayer.
WWE 2K25 is Legit The Final Verdict
Straight up WWE 2K25 is the best WWE 2K game since the franchise came back with WWE 2K22.
The inring action is toptier MyGM is more fun than ever and theres enough content here to keep even the biggest WWE diehards hooked for months.
And thats not even countin all the community creations that are gonna drop givin players a neverending supply of new characters and content.
Those community creations will no doubt make WWE 2K25 even stronger but even without em its a blast to play and has quickly become one of my alltime favorite wrestling games.
WWE 2K25 9/10 Reviewed on Xbox Series X. Wildly entertaining inring action. Massive roster of superstars past and present. Best MyGM yet.
Stuffed with exciting game modes. Yeah The Islands microtransactions are a headache. WWE 2K25 drops March 14 for PC PS4 PS5 Xbox One and Xbox Series X.
hooked me up with an Xbox Series X code for this review.
